"Various physical disabilities keep me housebound for most of the year, but thanks to postage stamps, a part of me is able to fly all over the world and visit with people who visit me back in the same way. This is how I feel about Etegami, Japan’s version of mail art. Even without a common language, my hand-painted cards speak to the recipient on my behalf. Postage stamps are my wings."

I love this! You have such a lovely way of expressing your self.
ReplyDeleteWhat a healthier way of looking at being house and bed bound. I tend to write more when I am immobilized. Bed rest need not be boring and absolutely confining. I write, people write back, it's a win-win for everyone. Drawing and "coloring" helps keep my mind focused on something other than pain and being in bed. It takes me back to childhood when the best medicine was a box of crayons and a coloring book. Part of my survival kit is a well stocked postage tin.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a well-timed post. :)
Ah, I found you - and postage stamps, and the rest of the world... because I cannot walk. Strong wings, indeed!!
ReplyDeleteYou inspire us with your creative wings ! Thank you !
ReplyDelete{{{{{Debbie}}}}}}} I am so thankful for you and you lovely spirit.
ReplyDeleteI love the "Nippori" on the stamp. I spent a few too many yen there. I had to ship some of my fabric home.
ReplyDeleteThere are wings for everyone. Yours are wonderful!
