gerbera daisies

The Japanese words on the first one say "(like) the warmth of your heart." I painted it as a thank you card for a woman who, on top of doing me a great kindness, brought me a bunch of gerbera daisies last week. The rest of the images are not quite as faithful a representation of the actual flowers, but were inspired by them never-the-less. The second and fourth images were painted with luminescent gansai, but that doesn't show very well in the scan. The outlines of those same images were made not with sumi ink, but with a black permanent marker. The effect of marker ink on my high-bleed washi cards has been fascinating me lately.

  8. Wow, these flowers are all so lovely! The bright orange at the top is my favorite of the colors, though the dew-drop is so soft and lovely, too. And then a great Robert Frost quote. Terrific!
