hug relay

Joy and humble gratitude. Yesterday I had ANOTHER visitor, the second this week, and the third in the last ten days! This is a record breaker for me. The best thing was she brought me three hugs. Count them: THREE. One was from her, and the other two hugs were relayed through her to me from two dear friends who live far away. Plus she brought me some fragrant and perfectly ripe bartlett pears... So, of course, I painted them.

I think something must be wrong with my scanner. Lately, my white cards look gray or brownish when I scan them. Is there a simple solution to this? Or do I need a new scanner?

gerbera daisies

The Japanese words on the first one say "(like) the warmth of your heart." I painted it as a thank you card for a woman who, on top of doing me a great kindness, brought me a bunch of gerbera daisies last week. The rest of the images are not quite as faithful a representation of the actual flowers, but were inspired by them never-the-less. The second and fourth images were painted with luminescent gansai, but that doesn't show very well in the scan. The outlines of those same images were made not with sumi ink, but with a black permanent marker. The effect of marker ink on my high-bleed washi cards has been fascinating me lately.
