interviewed on postcrossing

I had the honor of being interviewed by Ana Campos on the Postcrossing blog, and the even greater honor of having other postcrossers actually read the article and comment on it. I'd been a little discouraged by all the postcrossing profiles that specifically state a reluctance to receive art cards or handmade cards. In fact, so many of the names that Postcrossing "picked out of the hat" for me were anti-art-card people, that I'd started having doubts about my fittedness for the group. But I was ENORmously encouraged to find out that there are more postcrossers who like art cards-- even handmade art cards-- than I had imagined. I'm feeling all motivated again and will be picking up my pace of sending out cards. Here's the link to the interview.

  2. Lovely interview! I refrained from commenting as I would have to sign in. I'll say here that your illustrations are lovely and I always enjoy seeing them.

  4. Great interview ! So good that Postcrossing asked you for it ! It's true, many Postcrossers ask for non-handmade cards. Good that you stick to send your etegami !

  5. I am a Postcrossing member. Art-cards and homemade cards are my very favorite. But I seldom receive one.

    1. Wouldn't it be nice if Postcrossing could connect people like us together? I seldom get art cards either.

  6. Congratulations for being featured on the Postcrossing blog. It was a wonderful article and the etagami they featured were excellent examples. Now perhaps people will understand all the time and love that goes into making a handmade card and appreciate receiving one. I know I love them, and yours, in particular. ;-) Kudos to you!

  8. Hello Debbie, I just read the interview at the postcrossing blog and want to tell you that I admire your ability to make such wonderful cards ... I admire them especially because of their unsophisticatedness.
Kind regards from Germany, Annett (postcrosser knetty)

  9. Hi Debbie, I just recently signed up post crossing (very very recently! so far I have only sent 2, my user is pwen) because I wanted to share the little drawings I make everyday with someone in the world.

Your interview on the front page of the postcrossing blog has inspired me so much and sealed the deal for me (as opposed to swap-bot where people exchange artist trading cards that are mostly fan art)

Here is what I have sent (you motivated me to go through with it)

I am blown away by the depth of thought and emotion conveyed in the rich line quality of your etegami. I have taken amateur Chinese painting classes before and liken etagami to be similar in terms of the embodiment of emotion and sensitivity to its lines.

I hope I can continue to do this for a long time as it really takes a lot out of me.

I aspire to make my paintings as simple and moving as your etegami.

Thank you for doing what you do!
