My last etegami project left me so drained, I've been having trouble concentrating on the next one. So I decided to have fish for lunch. Welllll, didn't your mother teach you that fish is brain food?
I googled it to make sure, and my wise mother's teaching was confirmed. Actually, I eat fish almost every day anyway-- but of course, I live in Japan, and we know a thing or two about good fish.
Anyway, after my brain food lunch I got inspired to make some brain food mail art. Here's another set for my on-going candy box mail art series. Let me know if you'd like one.

I enjoy both your blog and your art. I do send mail art and would love to exchange with you if my work has any interest to you. You can see it at my daily blog, http://jackilong.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHi, Jacki. I've been following your blog for quite some time, actually. And I would love to do an exchange. My postal address is in the banner of my mail art gallery blog (scroll down the column on the right for the link). Do you have your address posted anywhere? If not, please email it to me.
DeleteYour boxes make me think about april fools' day. Overhere (Belgium) it is often represented by a fish, April Fish, (in French : poisson d'avril) : people attach secretly a "paper-fish" on the back of another person. (Someone did it to me today...)
ReplyDeleteSo it is with your box : you think you get chocolates, but there is a fish inside. Funny !
Lieve, I had heard that custom from someone before but had forgotten about it. Thank you for reminding me! If I had remembered, it would have been a good explanation for this mail art. :)
DeleteAnd here I am, the Queen of Poisson d'avril. Lieve is right about the fish on your back and also about the candy. Except the silvery fish in your candy box really does have chocolate inside. http://www.parisbreakfast.com/ I would love to have one of these candy box fish, even though I am so very very far behind in sending etegami. Could I possibly have one on credit? :-) Joyeaux poisson d'avril.
ReplyDeleteRachel, I guess you realize that the fish you see in my photo are not chocolate fish. I filled empty chocolate boxes with etegami fish. The original contents of the box were the small blocks of chocolates pictured on the front, and they are now in my tummy. I glued the typed words on the front of the box, glued etegami fish to the tray inside, and added other etegami decorations that aren't visible in the photos. If you still want one like this, I'll be happy to make you one. :)
